I Love New York!
Carrie
Bears teamed up with Caring Connection and
several volunteers from the Salt
Lake City
community to make grief bears for the fallen
New York City firefighters
and police officers.
Carrie
Bears completed a project of making bears of comfort for the
families of the New York City firefighters and police officers. The bears
are 20 inches long and made from the fabric used to make the uniformed
shirts of the service men. Sewn on the front of each bear is a patch
from the NYC Fire Department or the NYC Police Department. Monogrammed
on the left arm of each bear is either FDNY or NYPD and an American Flag
is sewn on the right arm of each bear. The full name and unit or platoon
of each firefighter and policeman that died in the World Trade Center
attack is monogrammed on the back of the bear. The name is preceded by
"In Loving Memory of" and followed by "September 11, 2001".
Carrie was able to
personally deliver some of these bears to 12 of the families of Engine
54 and to confirm that the precious cargo previously sent had arrived
and that bears were being distributed to the many families.
